A Wonderful Life: My 36 years of Odyssey around the Middle East (1974-2010)

This is a true story of my work and travels around the Middle East for 36 years from 1974 to 2010. These were eventful years in the Middle East that left their marks on the countries and people to the present day and for years to come. As fate had in store for me, I was in Iran in 1979 during the Islamic revolution. I was in Iraq in September 1980 when the Iran-Iraq war started, in Yemen in 1994 when the War of Secession broke out, and in Baghdad when the Americans invaded in 2003. I was bombed when I was in Baghdad, Tehran, and Aden. I evacuated safely, under my own steam, on each occasion. I was fired at on no less than 6 occasions and thrown in jail on 4 occasions. In all cases, this happened to me for simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time.These events did not affect my work in the oil and gas industry, and from enjoying my interactions with all the locals. I enjoyed all these wonderful countries in the Middle East. I also hope that this book will dispel many of the misconceptions about living and working in the countries of the Middle East.This book will be invaluable for anybody who visits and works in the Middle East, and how to survive, enjoy life and prosper.
